1.3b Data Types

Explain the representation of different data types:
  • Integer - 32 bits - 4 Bytes
  • Boolean - 1 bit
  • Date/Time - Integer/Decimal
  • Currency - Decimal (limited) - Generally 15 9's before a decimal point
  • Character - 16 bits - 2 Bytes (Practically same as Extended ASCII
  • String (Unlimited)
Why would you use each one:
  • Integer - Age
  • Boolean - Yes or No
  • Date/Time - Birthday
  • Currency - Financial
  • Character - Multi - choice
  • String - Undefined
Why isn't everything set as String
  • As it says space because String is always set to about 250 characters.
  • Can't do Maths.
